Dr. Karnicki and her husband Barry are permitted residence in their home by their 3 dogs, 6 cats, and an African grey parrot named George. Her free-time interests include grilling out, reading and spending time with family.
Dr. Dawn Karnicki is the veterinary owner of Delaware Animal Clinic, which she joined in 2008. She has a love of high quality, compassionate, personalized small animal veterinary medicine, but took a unique path to reach her current position. Initially trained to be a human physician, Dr. Karnicki graduated as a Medical Doctor from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1996. It was not too long until she realized her true calling was veterinary medicine. She enrolled in school again, gaining her DVM degree from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She worked at a small animal veterinary clinic in Illinois before moving back to her greatly missed hometown of Beaumont and joining Delaware Animal Clinic.
Dr. Karnicki is a member of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice, an organization that promotes high standards of veterinary medicine through continuing education, to which only 1 of every 15 Texas veterinarians belongs. She is very progressive in continuing education, and has obtained greater than 50 hours per year (over the 17 hours required), so that she may provide the most current veterinary medical care to your pet. She also is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Southeast Texas Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, Veterinary Information Network, and American Animal Hospital Association.
